New On OOTP 21: 1992 Historical League

*BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE SAME PEOPLE AS QUARANTINE BASEBALL ASSOCIATION, A MODERN DAY LEAGUE. WE ARE STARTING A 1992 HISTORICAL LEAGUE -- BALCO IN QUARANTINE*

PREMISE

A historical league starting in 1992, prior to the ’93 expansion and ’94 strike. Starting in ’92 allows us to start off with a smaller owner base (26). We can expand or alter the league as we please prior to a period of extreme change in MLB.

CHANGES TO ORIGINAL FILE

OOTP historical saves start with a multitude of shortcomings.

1. Contracts are not accurate
2. Owners are not accurate
3. Market sizes are not accurate
4. Uniforms are not accurate

Prior to distributing the league file, the commissioners will edit the file so that the player contracts resemble real life as much as possible. Owner profiles will resemble the real life owners as much as possible. Market sizes will resemble the times. Uniforms will be uploaded to be accurate to ’92.

LEAGUE SETTINGS

Sim Schedule - TBD (between 4-6 days a week)
Rating Scale - 20/80 Scale
Injuries - AVERAGE/NORMAL*
*OOTP historical games start on low. Modern day OOTP games start on normal. While average is lower than what the setting is in QBA, it is still one tick above the default setting for the game.
Development - OOTP Enabled*
*Historical OOTP sims come with three different development options. One disables development, meaning players will be re-rated each year to have their ratings most closely reflect their real life historical output. One option re-calculates each year taking from a sample of 5 years, most heavily weighing that season. The last option, which is what we will use, is the OOTP development system, meaning players develop as they would in a modern day game. This will make the game more unpredictable. Derek Jeter might flop and someone you’ve never heard of might become the greatest player ever.
Votes on changes to the league will require 2/3rds approval (17 out of 26 votes)

COMMUNICATION/PLATFORMS

OOTP21
Slack
Stats+

CONDUCT

Export Regularly (target export % of 75%, anyone below this number will receive a warning)

Abide by roster rules. Don’t make commish clean up your mess

Treat people with respect on message boards (talk all the trash in the world just don’t cross a line)

GAMEPLAY

For things like contract extensions and trades, ask if what you’re doing is rooted in logic and “realism.” Would/Could a team have done this? If a contract extension feels scummy and loophole-y, then don’t do it as a courtesy to the league. There aren’t any firm rules, just please use some logic and courtesy. If you don’t know, ASK!

Free agent compensation rules will reflect the times
The draft will be 50 rounds, as it was in 1992

STATSPLUS

We will be doing 7 day sims, or weekly sims, per time we sim.
We will be using Statsplus for drafting. TBD on draft class announcement
We will “Live Sim” the playoffs, or other special occasions likes Opening Weekend
EVERYONE NEEDS TO LOG IN TO Statsplus – so we can associate you, that’s how you will know when it’s your turn to draft

TRADES

ALL TRADES must be posted in the #trades_complete channel of slack
The party who has not posted the trade, must “CONFIRM” trade for it to be valid
ALL TRADES must be submitted in-game, and exported. If THEY ARE NOT then they will not be processed
ALL TRADES will be processed @ THE END of sims. (The only time this is not the case is the trade deadline)
If a player is INJURED during the week of a trade, that injury will be WIPED CLEAN AND RESET

DFA’s/WAIVERS

DFA’s will run on a 14 day rotation.
Waivers will be 7-day rotation
IF a player is not dealt with, I will try to demote. IF they refuse demotion – they will be released
