And here comes the deadline month! Fireworks started early, with some trades involving minor leaguers, but the first real move happened when Browns sent veteran catcher Hank Severeid to Phillies for two prospects. After that, Cubs acquired SP Dixie Leverett from Athletics (for prospects), and Ed Carey from Pirates (for prospects); Braves went dealing for a shortstop with White Sox and sent to Red Sox a veteran SP. Big trade in New York, with the Robins sending top closer Al Mamaux to Yankees for prospects. Senators were active with Athletics and Cubs for minor moves and there were another couple of moves, but nothing too relevant. On the field in NL Cardinals were trying to close the big gap with the Giants, but at the start of August they trailed by 13 and half-game; AL was wide open, with Indians leading Yankees by 3 game and a half. To note another falldown by Phillies: after rebounding in June, they close July in last position. Speaking about stats, in NL Waner closed july with a .397 BA, but the best player in baseball in the game was Rogers Hornsby (Babe Ruth is having a normally great season, not outstanding). To note, there were the Win number 350 per SP Walter Johnson (NYG)
August saw the Giants securing a second consecutive WS trip, with a 17 game lead on Cardinals at the start of september (86-40 vs 70-58) with Cubs and Reds tied at .500; in AL Indians carried on the last regular season month a 5 and a half game lead on Yankees and a 11 game lead on White Sox. Waner continued to stay near .400 BA while Hartnett (PHI) and Lazzeri (CHC) were in the hunt for HR crown with Babe Ruth (all tied at 25)
With everything decided, the Giants cruised through september in control, going 101-53 (first time a team won more than 100 games in this simulation) with a 19 game lead on Cardinals. A little more drama, but not much, in AL, with Indians securing a rematch with the Giants after not letting Yankees and White Sox close the gap created in August.

Batting title goes to Goose Goslin (.374) while Babe Ruth closed the season with 29 HR (tied with 2 national leaguers). His teammate, Baker, won RBI stats and he was also outplayed in WAR by Simmons (8.7 WAR vs 8.5 WAR); Simmons led in SLG (.590), doubles (49), runs (134), total bases (350), stolen bases (35)*and hits (217). We have a new king in baseball?
Talking about pitching Pug Cavet (White Sox) was the leading ERA pitcher at the end of the season (2.87) with 24 wins (the only one with W > 20), 7 shutouts, 22 complete games and 126 strikeouts --> TRIPLE CROWN!
NL MAJOR STATS NOTES
Paul Waner (PHI) failed his shot at .400 BA, closing the season with a great .392. There were 2 HR Kings, Hartnett (PHI) and Lazzeri (CHC), both with 29, but the Phila player won the RBI stat with 145 vs 122. Hartnett was the best offensive player, but as the past years Hornsby (STL) was the best ball player in NL.
In pitching no one had a 20 win season, Leonard (PIT) closed the season with a 2.84 ERA and 29 complete games; strikeout leader was Clay Roe (CIN) with 161 (despite losing 18 games)
