The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles

This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week.

This is Travis Miles. You are listening to "The Confidence Man Minute." Hello, baseball fans from Tato Field at Abernathy Farm. This weekend you watched two teams battling for the division banner and a playoff spot when the first place Starlight Lady Killers traveled here to Abernathy to take on the Adamantium. And as we saw in this weekend's matchup, the Lady Killers remain in first place, but the Adamantium gain a game on them, winning two of three.

Today's game was a no-contest. Abernathy jumped ahead in the third inning and never looked back in clinching the series with a 16-2 pounding. That most certainly has to jar the Lady Killers' confidence going into the final four weekends of the season.

This series could have gone much differently for both teams. In Game One, Starlight won it 10-6. The Lady Killers' Glen Higinbotham led the way, going 2 for 5 with a double and a home run, scoring once, and driving in five. That win gave Starlight a three-game lead in the division at the time, which guaranteed them to hold on to first place, at least for now.

Abernathy made their first statement in Game 2, winning 6-2 behind the masterful pitching of Joe Penaltybox. Though he ran out of gas and lost his shutout with two outs in the ninth, Penaltybox moved to 6-5 on the season after Bryan Punchline came in to get the final out. Penaltybox's final numbers included 8 and 2/3 innings pitched, two unearned runs, six hits, four walks, and six strikeouts.

This afternoon's star was a toss-up between the Adamantium's Radio Short and Austin Engill. Short was the game's MVP, going 4 for 4 with two doubles, two runs scored, two runs batted in, and a walk. Engill went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, three runs scored, three runs batted in, and two walks.

We don't know yet where we will be next weekend. A few candidates include going to the Brotherhood or Minutemen Leagues for some top-half matchups, but we are waiting for WRVR's decision. They are finishing up their game currently where the Egret Scrappers are looking to move to 27-21 by leading 9-7 in the top of the ninth against the 26-21 Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai. Wherever we're going, tune in tomorrow for a CBO wrap up power hour. I'll break down this weekend with as many quotes as I can get from players on the Lady Killers and Adamantium.
