DCR Week 17 Series Recap

The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles

This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week.

Hi, baseball fans in the Commonwealth. Playoff fever is taking over in the CBO, and we watched two teams battling it out this weekend for one of the CBO's eight spots in the playoffs. I am Travis Miles, and you are listening to "The Confidence Man Minute."

Tonight, we watched East Boston Prep take the game and the series as they defeat The Slog Ghouls 12 to 7 here are Easy Town Field. We had a high-scoring affair with at least one run scored in every inning of the game except the seventh.

Before we look at the stars of the game, we get to look at the big picture in the Brotherhood League heading into the final three regular season series. Both teams that we saw here are now 25 and 26 and tied for third place. With Salem's loss at Nordhagen Beach, both the Assaultrons and Ghouls trail by one game for second place. The Witch Hats look like they have the best chance to pull away some for the wildcard spot when they host reeling County Crossing, who is now tied for last place with the Party Boys at 22 and 29. The Assaultrons are at Nordhagen Beach, but the Party Boys are 6 and 4 in their last 10. The Slog has the toughest series by hosting first-place Finch Farm, which has a 33 and 18 record.

For our series this weekend, in Game One, Sean Samuels of the Assaultrons was the MVP and hero. Not only did he have a great game, going 3 for 5 with a home run, two runs scored, three runs batted in, and a walk, but he also hit the game-winning hit, an RBI, walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to win the game for EBP, 7 to 6.

Game Two belonged to the Ghouls, their only win. Po Greenzone was the top player of the game, going 2 for 2 with two home runs, four walks, three runs scored, and five runs batted in.

In Game Three, Assaultrons shortstop Matt Stoops was the star of the game. He was 3 for 3 with one of EBP's eight team doubles, four runs scored, two runs batted in, and a walk. He also had a sacrifice fly.

We made a trade for first choice in broadcast next weekend, which will affect the playoff broadcasts some. For now, we await WRVR's announcement for next weekend. Spoiler alert: Starlight and Abernathy are tied for first place in the Institute League, and they play next weekend. I am sure I can guess what WRVR wanted. We saw those two teams face off last weekend.

Anyway, that will do it for this week's "The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles." Be sure you tune in tomorrow morning where I have my weekly baseball show, and there we will officially announce where we'll head next week. Have a good night, don't let the rad bugs bite.
