8 September 2296 - Mechanist to co-Sponsor Silver Shroud
For their first year of existence, Fort Hagen Silver Shroud owner Isabel Cruz, known throughout the Commonwealth as the Mechanist, has declared that baseball suits her, so she is going to put more money from her company, General Atomics, into the Fort Hagen baseball team.
Though Cruz paid the salaries of the Shroud players and Hubris Comics Park, she was reluctant to put much other money in player equipment and practice facilities. The Shroud, for example, played in the only stadium without a shower facility or a doctor on hand.
Cruz said that 2297 would be different. "While I will let Kent [Connolly] continue pushing the brand and working on his movie series," Cruz said, "I will put as much money as necessary to turn this team around."
Commissioner Nate Howard has indicated that turn arounds in the league are likely, especially with a fledgling league where diamonds in the rough can become stars. Should the Shroud strike gold with the #3 overall pick in the 2296 Rookie Draft, there could help close the gap from the 13-game deficit they found themselves behind Institute League winner Abernathy.
