Jose Calero

Calero, a native of Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, is pictured here swinging the bat for the Louisville Colonels where he played first and third from 1968 to 1971. At the time Louisville was the AAA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Calero hit .291 in 514 AAA games but never warranted a call up with the big league club. He began his professional career with the Yankees D ball club in Kearney in 1959, Nebraska and also played in the Giants and Twins organizations finishing up in the Mexican league in 1975. It looks like Jose Calero was a reliable batsman with occasional power and a below average fielder looking at his defensive stats and many positions. This is the only image I could find of this long time minor league player.
