"El Cieguito" was Carlos Dore an early Dominican player in minor league baseball. Carlos played 7 years primarily in the low minors when a guy could spend his career in small town obscurity playing at levels as low as Class D. Dore was a slap hitting left handed outfielder with good speed. He posted solid seven year numbers of .297 with 140 steals and 47 triples. He did have a brief AA stint in 1960 hitting .346 in 11 games. Strangely never an A ball at bat or another return to the AA Tulsa Oilers. Carlos Dore did not begin his begin his minor league career until age 23 with 3 games in Michigan City and he was out of affiliated ball at age 29 after languishing in Class B with the Eugene Emeralds hitting .290 and scoring 99 runs. It is likely that El Cieguito continued to play the outfield in his home country in the winter and summer leagues. Here is Dore in the uniform of the Licey Tigres playing in the Dominican Republic.
