5 October 2296 - Warwick-Goodneighbor Trade: Homestead for Hagen
You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Warwick and Goodneighbor have made a swap with 19-year-old CF Warwickdon Homestead and 18-year-old minor league RHP Edward Waddle being shipped to the Hancocks and in return the Mirelurks would get 19-year-old LF Joe "Whiskey" Hagen, 17-year-old minor league RHP Steve Halperin and 19-year-old minor league LHP Nate Bauer.
Warwick general manager Jason Liberti said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction.
"This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines."
A source inside the Warwick organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works.
Homestead had originally changed his name from Don Duck to Warwick Homestead after he was drafted by the Mirelurks in the 2296 inaugural draft. The franchise had asked him to change his name back, but he only changed it to Warwickdon. There is no word yet if he is going to change his name now that he is a member of the Goodneighbor Hancocks. Perhaps Third Rail would suit him? We do not think he would dare trying John Hancock. That might get him knifed.
