GM Notebook - June 1, 2030
Okay, 19-6 in May with interleague two games ahead of us. With the Hawks going 14-13, we are now 5.5 games ahead of SoftBank for the PL lead, and firmly in a playoff spot so far. Even with Yamamoto not quite back yet, we're doing great.
We swept the monthly awards this month:
* DH Kikuo Kawamoto batted .373 with half of his hits being dingers (11 of 22), counting for 23 RBIs. He leads the PL in batting average right now.
* LHP Tetsuya Yoshimoto went 5-0 with a 0.78 ERA over those 5 starts, with a .142 oAVG and 50 Ks. Just ridiculous.
* and CF Eric Santana got some Rookie of the Month recognition for his .315 batting average and 4 home runs!
I still have to figure out what's eating my middle infielders - Shinji is in a deep slump, and none of Saito, Onishi, or Murakami are really shining. At least Arakawa's working his way out of his deep slump. Meanwhile, the back end of the bullpen is looking rough - Ota and Bergeron need to get back to impressing soon.
