One of the local sports guys asked the Giants' GM the other day whether it was "lucky" (absent, you know, the world misery) that the Giants could do a year's worth of tanking in a couple of months. And that got me thinking, I might actually not care if the Dodgers win the Jamboree this year and get it over with. Hopefully the trophy's made out of marzipan.
I've watched quite a few games and the quality in general is.. not good. The endless parade of pitchers is bad, the DH is as boring as I've always found it, and the whole thing just looks like spring training. The Nats left seats empty so their park looks deserted; Dodger Stadium's soundtrack is really bad, mistimed, odd (they hit the "cheers" button one time when the Giants scored), and the sound in Oakland is really tinny, or echoey, and phony. I haven't watched the Mets yet today but they seemed to do a better job with the sound in general. To sum up, it's about what I expected.
