I don't care for the new rule either though I am sure I'll get used to it. It just seems that of all the potential things MLB could try to improve, this wasn't an area where improvement was needed. Maybe it's just me but one of the best times to watch baseball is when it is close or tied in the ninth inning. Extra innings provide more of that excitement. Diminishing an exciting part of the game seems like a solution searching for a problem to me.

I see where you are coming from. I don't mind ties because I am use to it in soccer perhaps or just don't think it is a bad thing.
I personally have never been into long extra inning games. Usually there length because after 14 innings I am just hoping the game ends. Especially when there is hardly any scoring going on. The next big reason is for me is that the bullpen becomes taxed and this carries over into the next game with more pitchers being unavailable.
