29 May 2297 - BL: Basile Excels, But Ghouls Sweep

The The Slog Ghouls overcame a fine performance by Finch Farm right fielder Matt Basile to defeat the Four Leafs, 11-7, at Tarberry Field Forever. Basile hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Dan Dozier earned the win for The Slog. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 4-2. With the win, The Slog pushed its record to 16-8.

Lernz Tentsleep, who is tied for 2nd in the BL in home runs with 8, helped out the The Slog cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said The Slog skipper Mack O'Shea.

County Crossing 1 at Easy Town 8
Smoker Caliman was locked and loaded, helping the Easy Town Assaultrons beat the County Crossing Bloodbugs, 8-1. The win elevated the Assaultrons to 12-12.

Caliman went the distance for Easy Town, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 5.

Salem 8 at Nordhagen Beach 7
Mike Castillo helped his team muscle past the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 8-7. In the game, the Salem center fielder went 4 for 5 with 4 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times. The winner was Salem reliever Max Grove, now 2-0. The loser was Chet Arthur. The victory puts Salem at 9-15.

It could have been a different outcome for Salem, had it not been for Joe Rossi, the 27-year old shortstop . Rossi contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Salem up, 7-6.

29 May 2297 – IL: Adamantium Defeat Chemists, 6-5, in 10 Innings

The Abernathy Adamantium picked up a win at Tato Field, knocking off the Sunshine Tidings Chemists, 6-5, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Neil Watson was a big reason why. Abernathy reliever T-Bone Heagy was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Tiny Greene took the loss. Abernathy has now won 7 straight.

Abernathy won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Tiny Greene on the mound for Sunshine Tidings, right fielder Donny Kowalski hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Adamantium fans to their feet.

"It's a satisfying feeling to win like we did," said Watson.

Fort Hagen 15 at Starlight 8
The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud topped the Starlight Lady Killers, 15-8, with youngster Seth Dungan playing a key role. Dungan went 4-6 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for the Silver Shroud in the win. The win was credited to Matt Demented in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Bobby Tippecanoe took the loss. Fort Hagen is now 10-14, Starlight 17-7.

Fort Hagen used a timely hit from Andre Grogg to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Silver Shroud ahead, 9-8. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

Lexington 2 at Concord 10
The Concord Radstags picked up a win at Nuka Park, taking down the Lexington Synths, 10-2. Starting pitcher Mario Bustos was a big reason why. Concord has now won 3 in a row.

Bustos tossed 124 pitches over 9 innings to clinch the win for the Radstags. The right-hander allowed just 5 hits, while racking up 11 strikeouts in the game.

29 May 2297 – ML: Hancocks Prevail, 9-7, Over Quincy

The Goodneighbor Hancocks dealt the Quincy Gunners a loss at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS. The final score was 9-7. Bryan Assman was especially productive for Goodneighbor. In addition to his 1 single and 1 triple, he scored 2 runs and drove in 1. John Oldsink got credit for the win, improving to 5-1. He allowed 7 runs on 11 hits in 8.1 innings. Goodneighbor now has a record of 17-7 with the win.

Carlos Mungo hit a 2-run double off Ray Human in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Hancocks in front, 5-4. In addition to the double, Mungo had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Mungo.

Jamaica Plain 7 at University Point 2
Getting offensive support from Hid Matsumoto, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets topped the University Point Deathclaws, 7-2, for a surprising road sweep. Matsumoto went 2-4 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Red Rockets. University Point, at 8-16, has lost 4 straight.

With Jamaica Plain leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Matsumoto hit a changeup from Adam Froggatt for a solo home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Red Rockets ahead, 3-1.

Warwick 7 at Atom 3
Warwick beat Atom on the strength of starter Dave Kovalenko's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-3. Kovalenko, now 4-3, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. The win puts Warwick at 14-10 this season.

Tutton Gatekeeper, the 19-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Gatekeeper contributed a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put Warwick up, 2-0.

29 May 2297 – RL: Dwellers Dealt 7-5 Loss by Diamond City

The Diamond City Swatters swept the Vault 81 Dwellers, winning 7-5 on Saturday at The Great Green Jewel. Diamond City catcher Jazz Stockton was terrific. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Diamond City reliever Nick Via picked up the win to move to 1-0. Alex Godcomplex suffered the loss. Josh Samm collected his 7th save.

Had Prince Billingsley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Billingsley hit a 2-run triple. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Swatters.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Billingsley.

Oberland 8 at Shaw 2
Starting pitcher Matt Udder was a major factor in the 8-2 Oberland T-51s triumph over the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers. In 7.2 innings, Udder surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Oberland has a 3-game win streak, while Shaw HS has lost 4 in a row.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Chris Milteer? The Oberland shortstop had a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the T-51s on top, 2-1. For the game, Milteer had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Fairline Hill Estates 9 at Egret 10, 10 inn.
Bill Chaney impressed in the 10-9 Egret win over Fairline Hill Estates in 10 innings. Chaney, who is tied for 8th in the RL in home runs with 8, was 2 for 3 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5. Egret reliever Andy Helium picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Dave Crowfoot was saddled with the loss. Egret raised its record to 12-12 with the win.

The Scrappers procured the win, in large part because of catcher Tony Tamez. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

29 May 2297 - Kovalenko Brawls with Cats Fans

Warwick Mirelurks starting pitcher Dave Kovalenko pitched the win in today's 7-3 victory.

Though the win was great, Kovalenko took exception to Cats fans taunting him after the game. While fans were yelling insults at him, Kovalenko took it personally and attacked two fans.

Mirelurks manager Old Man Langford was not happy with Kovalenko. "We preach keeping a level head in all situations. I don't know what he was thinking by punching out fans. Let them talk. We still won the game. Now we lose Dave for awhile.

Because of his actions, Kovalenko is expected to be suspended the next two weekends, meaning a six-game suspension. He will have to miss his next two starts.
