1917-1918 Season:

After the livingstone dispute, the NHA was disbanded and under the leadership of William Sandison a new league was formed named the ‘National Hockey League’.

The first season consists of four teams:

The Toronto Arenas, a team currently owned by the Toronto Arena Company. Unfortunately for the Arenas they are still facing a lawsuit from Livingstone which may put strain on the brand new franchise. They will play in the 7,500 Mutual Street Arena.

The Ottawa Senators, an old team with a long history owned by Izaak Walton Killam (1885-1955). They will play in the 10,000 seat Ottawa Auditorium.

The Montreal Canadiens, the francophone team of Montreal owned by Vincent Dalairs. They will play in the 4300 seat Westmount Arena.

And finally, the Montreal Wanderers, a majority anglophone club owned by Canadian Financier and industrialist James Hamett Dunn (1874-1956). They will play in the 4,300 seat Westmount Arena.
