I was GM of the Orsa Lokomotiv and the owner's goal for me was avoid relegation. We finished last, and the bottom two teams are supposed to be relegated. All through the off-season, I made deals to improve the team. In June, I was told Orsa was very happy with my services and my contract was extended (we should really have an option to negotiate our contract renewals, by the way). July 1 -- beginning of the new season -- my development report said, "You were tasked with keeping the team in the league and you did that, but just barely." It went on to say the owner was very satisfied and confident etc. The very next email above it said I was fired. A check of the team's roster shows that it was relegated after all. Seems like the AI didn't know the relegation was coming and was caught by surprise by it. In gameplay terms (and real life waste of my time), I spent a grueling off-season (can't fast-forward past a week in challenge mode) clicking the sim button and wheeling and dealing, only to be fired a few RL hours later, the team relegated, and all the people I signed wiped off the roster.
