2297 Week 9 - The Week in Review

Analysis

When looking at the hottest teams in each league, there are obvious and then there is one huge surprise. That surprise for which team has been hottest over its last ten games comes in the Minutemen League. The team? The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets!

In their short history (nearly a year-and-a-half as a team, like every other team), the Red Rockets have not been successful at all. That is why they picked #2 overall in the 2296 Rookie Draft, meaning they had the second-worst record in the CBO.

That has not exactly changed in 2297, but the Jamaica Plain record over the last 10 games is 7-3, moving them from solidly last when they were 4-13 to a tie with University Point at 11-16. For the record, the Deathclaws needed a miracle win in Saturday's game to knock off first-placed (tie) Goodneighbor.

There are no reasons to think that Jamaica Plain will pull itself into playoffs contention, but it is always good to see the little guy grab a few wins.

Before last weekend's series, the Abernathy Adamantium were the hottest team in all of the CBO. After running into the force of 2297 that is the Starlight Lady Killers, the Adamantium have been humbled some. Still, the Adamantium are 8-2 in their last 10 and in great position to be in the playoff race. Lexington (15-12) and Concord (13-14) currently stand in their way, but Radio Short and Jim Waples are both hitting the ball like crazy, meaning IL pitchers have to fear Abernathy every game.

The hottest teams in the Brotherhood and Railroad leagues give off the ho-hum feelings. The Slog (18-9, 7-3 in their last 10) keeps chipping off more and more games each week. The Ghouls are in first place by four games, ahead of a three-way tie for second place in Finch Farm, County Crossing, and Easy Town. The Slog does everything well, so it would look like they will start to pull away from the rest and look to be in good shape to defend their title.

Even further ahead, the Oberland T-51s (20-7, 7-3 in their last 10) is currently on a six-game winning streak. Opponents in the Railroad League just cannot score against the T-51s, with all three starters pitching well, and the bullpen matching (both with 3.76 ERA). Sheng Kawolski (5-2, 3.06), Gerald Jerry (4-1, 3.50), and Matt Udder 6-1 (4.80) are all ace quality. The RL looks to be on the way to being over three-quarters into the season. The rest of the race is for second. Currently, that team is the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai, but Egret, Vault 81, and Shaw are all within distance.
