2297 Week 10 - The Week in Review

Analysis

We're at the midway point of the season, and you can look at the standings attached here and see how the standings look. However, if the playoffs started today, interestingly they would look like this:

#8 Egret Scrappers (RL) vs #1 Oberland T-51s (RL)
#5 Warwick Mirelurks (ML) vs #4 Goodneighbor Hancocks (ML)
#7 Lexington Synths (IL) vs #s Starlight Lady Killers (IL)
#6 Easy Town Assaultrons (BL) vs #1 The Slog Ghouls (BL)

See the interesting point here? At the midway point, we would have four league matchups in the playoffs if they started today. It would be fun to see that happen at the end of the season, but it's unlikely these remain.

In the divisions, the best one at the top is still the Minutemen League. That division race in the first half among Goodneighbor, Warwick, and Quincy has been the best.

That does not take away with the close race that is the Brotherhood League. In its first two years of existence, the BL has been the most competitive overall. That was evident last year when The Slog entered the playoffs as the 7th seed and a huge underdog to #2 seed Warwick and ended up winning their final over the BL league winner, Finch Farm.

This season, The Slog looks to be a solid team again, but still they face stiff competition each week. Right now, the Ghouls have a two-game lead over the Assaultrons, with the Four Leafs one game back of Easy Town for the wildcard.

Looking at the midseason MVP race, Fairlne Hill Estates' SS Hose Wallcrawler looks like he has a solid lead for the CBO award. He has an amazing .444/.517/.919 line. He leads the CBO in batting average, OBP, slugging, on-base + slugging (1.437), WAR (3.1), total bases (114), extra-base hits (30), and four advanced categories. He's third in home runs (13) and second in RBI (44). Unless he goes through a large slump, there are few who can catch up to his numbers.

In the pitcher's race for best in the CBO, Starlight's City Moore seems to be the one. He is currently 7-0 with a 3.28 ERA. He leads the CBO in only two categories: wins (tied) and quality starts (9 out of 10). His ERA is sixth, WAR tied for third (1.7), innings pitched fourth (74.0), walks per 9 innings fifth (1.5), FIP sixth (4.16), and ERA+ seventh (150).

If anyone else could challenge for that lead, it would the reigning CBO Pitcher of the Year, Warwick's John Diner. He is 6-3 with a CBO-leading 2.70 ERA. He has pitched 80 innings to lead the CBO. He also leads in ERA+ at 192.
