BL Awards Best Batter Prize to Tentsleep: Lernz Tentsleep demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Brotherhood League Player of the Week Award.
The The Slog shortstop wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .357 average (5-for-14) with 3 home runs and 4 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
Tentsleep is presently hitting at a .381 pace with 12 home runs and 39 RBIs. He has played in 30 games and scored 35 times.
IL Star of the Week Picked: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Institute League, but last week Wild Cannon of the Starlight Lady Killers reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Cannon rocked opposing pitching for a .600 average (9-for-15), no home runs and 7 RBIs to come away with the award.
Cannon currently has a .424 batting average with 53 hits, 0 homers, 23 RBIs, 22 runs scored and a .435 OBP.
Week's Best Player Honored by ML: It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Carney Cornseed, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets 17-year-old left fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Minutemen League Player of the Week honors.
He ripped 6 hits in 9 at-bats, compiling a .667 average with 1 home run and 4 RBIs.
Cornseed is swinging at a .392 pace on the year with 7 home runs, 25 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has played in 29 games.
Scrappers Bowfiddle Snags RL Player of the Week: 26-year-old Dustin Bowfiddle sent shock waves through Railroad League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Railroad League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Bowfiddle made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .667 average, 10 hits in 15 at-bats, no home runs and 3 runs batted in.
Where the Egret Scrappers second baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Bowfiddle certainly made his mark last week.
Bowfiddle is hitting .367 so far this season with 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 47 hits including 3 home runs, 6 walks and .409 OBP.
