For leagues in the pre-reliever era, take the following steps:
- Pitching rotations should equal the number of pitchers on a team's staff or six, whichever is lower;
- Rotation mode should be set to "start highest rested;"
- Allow starters in relief;
- Use of relievers and use of closers should be set to "very rarely;"
