28 June 2297 - Players of the Week
BL Presents Player of the Week Trophy: 18-year-old C.T. Woodard sent shock waves through Brotherhood League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Brotherhood League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Woodard made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .500 average, 7 hits in 14 at-bats, 1 home run and 2 RBI.
Where the The Slog Ghouls second baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Woodard certainly made his mark last week.
This season Woodard is batting at a .304 clip with 2 home runs and 19 RBIs.
Week's Premier Performer Honored by IL: At the age of 26, Steve Settler might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Abernathy first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .692 batting average. For his efforts Settler collected the Institute League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 9 hits in 13 at-bats, 1 home run and 3 RBIs last week in 3 games.
Settler is currently batting .357 with 10 home runs, 30 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 56 hits in 157 at-bats.
Week's Best Player Honored by ML: Robbie Adams has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 20-year-old shortstop of the Quincy Gunners had a hot bat in the Minutemen League over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.
Adams batted .667 with 8 hits in 12 at-bats, no home runs and 4 RBIs.
This season Adams is batting .292 with 40 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 17 times and has 31 RBI.
Phillips on a Hot Streak, RL Player of the Week: So far in his young career, Travis Phillips has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Railroad League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 17-year-old Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers shortstop hit at a torrid .417 clip as he collected 5 hits in 12 at-bats, 3 home runs, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
This year Phillips is hitting at a .246 pace with 6 home runs and 17 RBIs. He has played in 36 games and scored 17 times.
