Brotherhood League
The Slog's Tentsleep Collects June Batting Honor: The Slog Ghouls fans believe they've got a talented young star in Lernz Tentsleep.
He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .380 with 7 home runs, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
The end result was the shortstop being named the Brotherhood League Batter of the Month.
In the current season, Tentsleep has put up a .370 batting average with 60 hits, 15 home runs, 45 runs batted in and scored 41 runs.
Shed Nabs BL #1 Pitcher Award: When the Party Boys skipper wrote Shed on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in June he took command and usually got the win.
He dominated with a 3-0 mark and 2.35 ERA in 4 starts. The gifted Party Boys star pitched 30.2 innings, fanned 22 and held opposing teams to a .224 average.
For his excellent mound work Shed was named the BL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.
In 12 starts this season Shed has crafted a 6-2 record with a 3.64 ERA.
BL Selects Rookie Star of the Month: Youngster Biter Trout emerged as the latest Brotherhood League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from County Crossing deserved the honor, batting .310 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Trout enjoy the limelight.
This year Trout is hitting .273 with 2 home runs.
Institute League
Tiller Snares IL Top Batter Award in June: At only 19 years of age, Jim Tiller could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career.
That would be great news for fans of the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, as June was one to remember for the first baseman and he has captured the Institute League Batter of the Month award.
On the month he hit .412 with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
Tiller has a .371 average and a .403 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 56 hits, 4 home runs and driven in 33 runs.
Radstags Starter Named June's Premier Pitcher: In June, Mario Bustos tore through the Institute League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 18 years old.
The young Concord starter posted a 3-0 mark and an ERA of 5.13 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 26.1 innings he collected 22 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .274 average.
This year Bustos has a 5-4 record with a 7.09 ERA.
Institute League Names Rookie of Month: Cram Garge earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Institute League for last month's performance. The boyish Concord center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.
Garge hit .600 with 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.
In 12 games Garge is hitting .273 this season with 3 hits, 1 home run, 4 RBIs, 1 walk, .333 OBP and has scored 3 runs.
Minutemen League
June's ML Batter of Month Award Announced: Warwick Mirelurks fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in June.
Tutton Gatekeeper put up a remarkable month at the age of 19 and has been named the Minutemen League Batter of the Month.
For the month, Gatekeeper hit .395 with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
Gatekeeper is swinging at a .338 pace on the year with 10 home runs, 40 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has played in 36 games.
Pollack Collects ML Pitching Award: Pem Pollack is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Minutemen League Pitcher of the Month for June.
He made 8 relief appearances for Warwick last month, throwing 8.1 innings and collecting 7 saves, a 0-0 record, 15 strikeouts and a 1.08 ERA.
To this point in the year Pollack has put up a 1-0 won-lost mark, made 18 relief appearances and rung up 12 saves. He has a 0.48 ERA and has allowed 9 hits over his 18.2 innings of work, struck out 23 batters and walked 4.
Hitless Celebrates ML Rookie of Month Award: Danny Hitless has become a big University Point fan favorite, especially during the last month when the pitching phenom racked up a 1-0 record, making him the easy choice for June's Minutemen League Rookie of the Month Award.
He notched 11 strikeouts in 7.1 innings as he compiled a 3.68 ERA and held opponents to a .222 batting average.
His stats sheet for the year shows Hitless has managed to hold opponents to a .234 average in 5 relief appearances, while putting up 1-0 record with 16 strikeouts and 3 walks in 12 innings. He has a 4.50 ERA with no saves.
Railroad League
Beebe Grabs RL Best Batter Award for June: When Damani Beebe stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Railroad League Batter of the Month award.
The young Shaw HS right fielder posted a .347 batting average with 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 11 runs. Beebe also worked pitchers for 3 walks to post a .385 on-base percentage.
Beebe is hitting .356 so far this season with 55 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 52 hits including 16 home runs, 11 walks and .400 OBP.
Johnson Earns RL's Best Pitcher Honor: Radscorpion Johnson was the anchor in the Vault 81 bullpen last month and snatched up the Railroad League Pitcher of the Month honors for June. The 29-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.
He threw 6 innings over 6 relief appearances and collected a 1-0 record with 8 strikeouts and 5 saves while etching his 1.50 ERA.
So far this year, Johnson has chalked up 10 saves. In 16 relief appearances, he has 23 strikeouts in 17.2 innings with a 1.02 ERA. His season won-lost mark is 1-1.
Vault 81 Reliever Rated Best Rookie: Elijah Cake, the Vault 81 starter, is the latest Railroad League Rookie of the Month award winner. League officials made that announcement today.
In June he started 0 games with a 1-0 record, a 4.91 ERA, and 7 strikeouts in 7.1 innings.
