3 July 2297 - Boys Use 8-Run Rally to Avoid Sweep

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys relied on the hitting of center fielder Ryan Combs to stop the County Crossing Bloodbugs, 11-8. For the game, Combs was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs. Nordhagen Beach is now 17-22, while County Crossing is 20-19.

Entering the top of the sixth, Nordhagen Beach was down 8-3. A five-run sixth tied it before a three-run ninth won it.

Nordhagen Beach used the clutch hitting of Tomas Jones to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Party Boys the lead, 9-8. For the game, Jones had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.After the Bloodbugs intentionally walked Michael Fogcrawler, Tommy Talkington made them pay with a two-RBI single to close out the scoring.

Sia Abber pitched a hitless ninth to pick up the save, his Brotherhood League-leading 11th. Chet Arthur was credited with the win to move to 2-5 on the season.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Combs. "It felt good to get four hits but it felt better to beat those sons-of-******* in County Crossing."

Other Scores:

Finch Farm 1 at Salem 3
The Salem Witch Hats picked up a win at Vim! Park of Salem, knocking off the Finch Farm Four Leafs, 3-1. Starting pitcher Front Porch Potter was a big reason why. In 8 innings, Potter surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. The win puts Salem at 15-24.

Dan Beantown recorded a big out in the top of the ninth. The Four Leafs were trailing 3-1, but Finch Farm had runners on 1st and 2nd with two out. Beantown threw a 2-2 fastball to Gary, who struck out.

The Slog 9 at Easy Town 1
The Slog got a strong outing from Tyler Storts in his first start after a callup from Outpost Zimonja as the Ghouls defeated the Easy Town Assaultrons, 9-1, at Easy Town Field. With the victory, the Ghouls upped their record to 27-12.

3 July 2297 - IL: Provisioner goes 3-for-4, Leads Chemists to Win

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Provisioner told BNN.

Starlight manager Tick Raid refused to speak after the game but he was obviously upset at his team's performance of late. We'll tell you more from the weekly press conference if Raid speaks then.

Crooked Tostado was a vital contributor to the 8-4 Lexington victory over Fort Hagen. The Synths right fielder was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Warwick used the timely hitting of Melon Sanderson to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mirelurks on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Atom 13 at Goodneighbor 4

3 July 2297 - Cats End Hayes' Streak

Jumper Hayes came rolling into today's game against the Atom Cats with a 23-game hitting string, but he left it on the field at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS.

The 17-year-old Goodneighbor Hancocks second baseman went 0-for-2 against the Cats as the Hancocks fell, 13-4.

"I swung at a couple pitches I probably shouldn't have and I didn't swing at a couple I probably should have," he said, grimacing. "But that's what makes a hit streak so impressive in the first place -- it only takes a couple mistakes to end it all."

This year Hayes has hit at a .381 clip with 39 RBIs, 6 home runs and 35 runs scored.

3 July 2297 - RL: Dwellers Drop T-51s, 5-4

Shaw 4 at Fairline Hill Estates 5, 10 inn.
Mike Thunderdome did all he could to help his team win. Thunderdome went 4 for 6 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Fairline Hill Estates reliever Dave Crowfoot got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Tom Mannequin was tagged with the loss.
