9 July 2297 - BL: Bloodbugs Nip Ghouls, 5-4
The County Crossing Bloodbugs had to overcome a fine effort from The Slog pitcher David Kiwi to grab a narrow 5-4 win in 12 innings at Beantown Brewery Stadium. Kiwi went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs. The winner was William Whitehurst in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Matt Suds took the loss. County Crossing now has a record of 22-19 with the win.
The Bloodbugs procured the win, in large part because of pinch hitter Mike McDonie. In the bottom of the 12th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.
"Both teams played hard," said County Crossing manager Biff Future.

Salem 4 at Easy Town 6
Easy Town center fielder Sean Samuels had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Salem Witch Hats, 6-4. Easy Town reliever Marc Woodsman picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Front Porch Potter took the loss. Easy Town raised its record to 21-20 with the win.
Samuels had a timely hit for Easy Town in the bottom of the eighth. With Salem trailing 4-3, he turned a 2-2 slider into a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 6-4, Easy Town.
Nordhagen Beach 3 at Finch Farm 12
The Finch Farm Four Leafs clobbered the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 12-3, at Finch Family Park. Finch Farm left fielder Danny Honeycutt led the onslaught. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. With the win, Finch Farm raised its record to 21-20.
In the bottom of the first, Tommy Junkman hit a 3-run home run. The 6th home run of the season for the Finch Farm shortstop put the Four Leafs on top, 5-2.
9 July 2297 - Metalbox Hits in 20 Consecutive Games
Jarrett Metalbox's bat has been smoking lately, and it continued today as he went 2-for-4 in a 6-4 Easy Town Assaultrons triumph over the Salem Witch Hats at Easy Town Field. The 19-year-old left fielder has now hit safely in 20 consecutive games for the Assaultrons.
Jarrett Metalbox flied out in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 7th.
So far this season Metalbox has hit .305 with 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 25 times.
9 July 2297 - Injury Shuts Down Radsco for Season
Chris Radsco had hoped for the best, but expected the worst. Today, he learned from the Concord medical staff that he would miss the rest of the season. The Concord starting pitcher suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow in an earlier ballgame. He admitted to being discouraged, but said he plans to come back strong next year.
Season-to-date Radsco has rung up 6 wins and 5 losses in 14 appearances. He has an ERA of 3.32 and has fanned 104 batters in 97.2 innings.
9 July 2297 - IL: Lady Killers Win at Lexington, 7-1
The Starlight Lady Killers got a good effort from starter Jonathan Newman in defeating the Lexington Synths at Super Duper Mart Stadium. The final score was 7-1. Newman went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-4. With the victory, the Lady Killers upped their record to 23-18, breaking a five-game losing streak.
Bob Trevino aided the Starlight cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1 for 1.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Trevino. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."

Fort Hagen 7 at Abernathy 6
The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud had to overcome a big game from Abernathy first baseman Steve Settler to leave Tato Field with a victory. And they did, winning 7-6. Settler hit 2 home runs. Curtis Thriceshot finished the game for Fort Hagen and earned his 8th save. The Silver Shroud go to 18-23, putting them last in the Institute League.
Fort Hagen relied on the bat of Seth Dungan to get the win. The shortstop ripped a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Silver Shroud ahead, 5-4. For the game, Dungan had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.
Concord 1 at Sunshine Tidings 11
The Sunshine Tidings Chemists and starting pitcher Tim Fusion stifled the Concord offense en route to a comfortable 11-1 win at ArcJet Systems Stadium. The win makes Sunshine Tidings 19-22.
Concord could barely put a dent in Fusion. The left-hander tossed 133 pitches over 9 innings for the Chemists, allowing only 3 hits.
9 July 2297 - ML: Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Cats
No one was more impactful than Ed Tarberry in the 7-5 Atom win over Quincy. Tarberry, who finished 3rd in the ML in batting average with .368 last year, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Atom reliever Old Buck Buchanan picked up the win to move to 1-0. Ryan Kazarian suffered the loss. Freedom Williams earned the save for Atom, his 7th of the year.
Tarberry had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a 0-2 fastball from Ryan Kazarian, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Cats a 6-5 lead. It was the 14th double of the year for Tarberry.
"I felt good up there," said Tarberry. "I saw the ball well."
Atom has a 3-game win streak, while Quincy has lost 3 in a row.

University Point 4 at Warwick 3
The University Point Deathclaws topped the Warwick Mirelurks by the score of 4-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to center fielder Jukebox Luttrell. Luttrell was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Deathclaws on the day. William Radwater, the winning pitcher, is now 4-6. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 12 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 3. University Point is now 19-22.
The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth when Luttrell, who is tied for 10th in the ML in bases on balls with 19, hit a 2-run single. It propelled the Deathclaws into the lead, 4-2.
Jamaica Plain 1 at Goodneighbor 13
Goodneighbor Hancocks starter Bruce Iddings turned in an exceptional performance against the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS, resulting in a Goodneighbor win, 13-1. The win for the Hancocks lifted their record to 26-15.
Iddings threw well for Goodneighbor, thwarting the Jamaica Plain offense. The left-hander tossed 131 pitches over 9 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 5 hits.
9 July 2297 - RL: Dwellers Roll to 9-3 Win Over Knuckle Punchers
Vault 81 right fielder Deer Quickwalker contributed to his team's 9-3 win over the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers. Quickwalker, who is tied for 7th in the RL in extra base hits with 26, went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Dwellers. The win elevated the Dwellers to 21-20.
Vault 81 grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, Ronald Raygun delivered a 2-run single, to make it 4-2 in favor of the Dwellers.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Raygun.

Oberland 11 at Egret 5
Jonathan Abern made an impact in the 11-5 Oberland win over Egret. Abern, who finished 5th in the RL in RBI with 59 last year, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The Scrappers, now 18-23, have lost 6 straight.
Oberland relied on the hitting of Cozy Kazar to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the T-51s on top, 6-3. For the game, Kazar had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Diamond City 3 at Fairline Hill Estates 5
The Diamond City Swatters got a superb performance from right fielder Wayne Lacy. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Fairline Hill Estates. The Yao Guai won the game, 5-3. Lacy went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Sage Monticello, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-4. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The save went to Dave Crowfoot, number 6 for him.
Nick Waterpipe, the Fairline Hill Estates first baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 3-2, Yao Guai. For the game, Waterpipe was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles.
