It was announced yesterday that veteran closer Tim Shore, currently one of the best relievers in the game, has signed a 4-year deal to stay with the Denver Brewers through the 1982 season (reportedly the team does have a buy-out option for the final season) at what is believed to be around $215,000 per year.
The 5-time All-Star has been a member of three WPK Championship teams- in both 1968 and 1969 as a member of the Columbus Whalers, and last season with the Brewers, who defeated the Whalers- and the feeling is that he felt that this was the best way to give himself a good chance to earn at least one more ring.
