BL's Star Player Named: Ginger Rogers demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Brotherhood League Player of the Week Award.
The Finch Farm center fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .400 average (4-for-10) with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
Rogers is currently batting .293 with 17 home runs, 35 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He has 53 hits in 181 at-bats.
Star of the Week Picked in IL: 19-year-old Jim Waples sent shock waves through Institute League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Institute League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Waples made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .538 average, 7 hits in 13 at-bats, no home runs and 5 RBI.
Where the Abernathy Adamantium second baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Waples certainly made his mark last week.
Waples is hitting .418 this year with 1 home run, 27 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 76 hits in 182 at-bats, 6 walks and a .432 on-base percentage. Waples has played in 45 games.
Duck: Big Hit in the Minutemen League: One of the league's most exciting young players, Good Don Duck of the Goodneighbor Hancocks earned himself Minutemen League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.
For the week the 19-year-old left fielder had a lofty .500 average (7-for-14), collecting 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
So far this year Duck has 5 home runs and a .420 batting average.
Gold Earns RL Player of the Week: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Railroad League, but last week Erns Gold of the Vault 81 Dwellers reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Gold rocked opposing pitching for a .538 average (7-for-13), 1 home run and 2 RBIs to come away with the award.
In the 2297 season Gold is hitting .328 with 18 home runs.
