Nicosia was the right handed part of the catcher platoon on the World Champion 1979 Pirates with left handed hitting Ed Ott. He appeared in 70 games that year, his first full year in the Majors. The disparity between his performances was huge for a right handed batter: a more than respectable 272/325/391 against left handers, but only 220/293/290 against right handers. His FL splits so far back this up some degree. He hit 333 v L / 275 v R for Washington in 1901. He was sent down in the offseason and spent all of 1902 at Chattanooga, where he hit 258 v L and 251 v R. He was their everyday catcher that season, batting at 5 v lefties and 6 v RHP.

With Heinie Peitz and Chance Sisco at the big league club I don't hold out much hope of him seeing a lot of FL action unless one of them gets hurt or he gets traded.
