25 July 2297 - Rayguns First to Clinch BMU Playoff Berth
The Cabot House Rayguns (Atom) are the first team to clinch a playoff berth in the BMU after a win today. They have clinched at least 2nd place in the Downtown Boston League with a current record of 32-11 outdistancing third-place Haymarket Mall bu 8.5 games with just seven to play for the Rayguns.
The Trinity Plaza Snipers struggled at the plate today against Rayguns hurler Jake Williams, who shackled them on 1 hit while hurling a complete game 6-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Snipers skipper Bill Pinkerton in his postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Williams finished the game with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," Cabot House manager Fourth Wall said. "Jake made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
Thus far this season, Williams has tossed 128.2 innings in 17 starts, fanned 148 batters, walked 41 and put up a 2.31 ERA with 11 wins and 4 losses.
For now the Rayguns are still in a divisional battle with the Trinity Plaza Snipers (Goodneighbor). See BNN's Pennant Chase information below.
