26 July 2297 - Players of the Week

Red-Hot Rampage Reaps BL Reward: At the age of 28, Josh Noggin might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The County Crossing first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .438 batting average. For his efforts Noggin collected the Brotherhood League Player of the Week Award.

He racked up 7 hits in 16 at-bats, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs last week in 3 games.

This season Noggin is hitting .370 with 77 hits, 10 home runs, 41 RBIs, scored 39 runs and played in 48 games.

IL Player of the Week Selected: So far in his young career, Brightsun Ramos has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Institute League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.

The 18-year-old Sunshine Tidings Chemists right fielder hit at a torrid .500 clip as he collected 7 hits in 14 at-bats, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Currently Ramos is batting .294 with 8 home runs and 35 RBIs.

ML Player of the Week Awarded: One of the league's most exciting young players, Jumper Hayes of the Goodneighbor Hancocks earned himself Minutemen League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 17-year-old second baseman had a lofty .538 average (7-for-13), collecting 1 home run, 2 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

This year Hayes is batting .377 with 8 home runs. He has scored 42 runs and driven in 43.

RL Star of the Week Picked: It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Tony Acosta, the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers 19-year-old second baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Railroad League Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 8 hits in 13 at-bats, compiling a .615 average with no home runs and 3 RBIs.

Acosta has collected 77 hits for the Knuckle Punchers this year, 4 of them home runs. He has also netted 35 RBIs and scored 46 runs while batting .385.
