The View from the BMU
by Nat Wright-Kowalski
27 July 2297 - Mystic Pines
On certain Tuesdays for the 2297 and 2298 seasons, we will feature one of the settlements where teams in the Boston Minor Union play.
In our second trip around the BMU, we will go to the tight-knit community near Lexington, Mystic Pines.
Then
When Nate Howard first arrived at Mystic Pines, it was "a retirement home or in the eastern outskirts of Lexington before the Great War. Several of the residents and staff seem to have remained at Mystic Pines and subsequently perished. . . . Mystic Pines is named after the nearby Mystic River or Mystic Lakes, both of which are located just a few miles to the east of Lexington."
Nate politely shooed away some raiders and roving ghouls near the area to make Mystic Pines another area to make as a base for his scavenger hunts in Lexington. Once settlers started moving in, Nate only occasionally visited but remembered the lofty project the settlers proposed.
Now
The residents of Mystic Pines not only improved the place, but they added on to it vertically. The facility is now a two-story structure that has a bridge to the overpass above it. Along Mystic Lake, settlers have built farms and a fishery. They have added some industrial structures to the western lot. All of these help feed into the larger Lexington settlement that is being worked on to make more building livable.
