Brotherhood League

Honeycutt Takes Best Bat Trophy in August: At only 19 years of age, Danny Honeycutt could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Finch Farm Four Leafs, as August was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the Brotherhood League Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .579 with no home runs, 8 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

Thus far in 2297 Honeycutt is hitting .367 with 10 home runs, 46 RBIs, 39 runs scored and has compiled a .423 OBP.

Best Starter Chosen by Brotherhood League: Roberto Gonzales took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Brotherhood League Pitcher of the Month award for August.

The 18-year-old Witch Hats starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 3-0 won-lost record in 3 starts. This month he fanned 9 batters in 26 innings and compiled a 2.77 ERA.

This season Gonzales has a 5-6 mark in 18 starts with a 5.68 ERA. He has given up 175 hits in 117.1 innings, struck out 59 and issued 20 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .342 batting average against him.

Fultz Wins Rookie of the Month: The Slog has a new rising star.
His name is Wonder Boy Fultz and he is August's Rookie of the Month in the Brotherhood League. This standout first-year pitcher wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance over the last month.

In 0 starts he chalked up 1 win and no losses with a 0.00 ERA, notched 10 strikeouts in 7.1 innings and held other clubs to a .154 average.

To date this season, Fultz has fashioned a 2.70 ERA and rung up 11 saves for his club. He has 53 strikeouts and 13 walks. Opponents have hit for a combined .255 average against him and Fultz has a 2-4 won-lost mark.

Institute League

Super Month Nets Ramos #1 Batter Prize in IL: When Brightsun Ramos stepped up to the plate in August he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Institute League Batter of the Month award.

The young Sunshine Tidings right fielder posted a .385 batting average with 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and scored 13 runs. Ramos also worked pitchers for 4 walks to post a .442 on-base percentage.

This season Ramos is swinging the bat at a .324 rate with 81 hits in 250 at-bats. To date he has hit 12 home runs, scored 45 runs and driven in 55.

Fusion Named Top IL Hurler: Tim Fusion has made fans throughout Institute League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 3-0 record. No pitcher in the Institute League threw better in August, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 3 starts Fusion compiled a 3.16 ERA, putting up a 3-0 record, striking out 25 and tossing 25.2 innings.

Over the season Fusion has thrown 158.1 innings and dished out 154 strikeouts with a 11-6 mark and a 3.92 ERA.

Abernathy Closer August's Best Rookie: August's Rookie of the Month Award in the Institute League went to T-Bone Heagy of Abernathy.

He was outstanding in 0 starts last month as he notched no wins and no losses, a 1.93 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 9.1 innings.

For the year Heagy has made 25 relief appearances with 9 saves. He has also fashioned a 1-1 won-lost mark with a 2.40 ERA. In 30 innings he has fanned 22.

Minutemen League

Alone Wins ML's Best Bat Trophy: It's a time for celebration in Atom as Travis Alone has just walked away with August's Minutemen League Batter of the Month award.

He socked 19 hits in 37 at-bats to put up a .514 batting average, 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Thus far this year Alone has hit .366 with 5 home runs and 29 RBIs.

Eloquent Wins ML Top Pitcher Honors: When the Hancocks skipper wrote Eloquent on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in August he took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 3-0 mark and 3.13 ERA in 3 starts. The gifted Hancocks star pitched 23 innings, fanned 17 and held opposing teams to a .247 average.

For his excellent mound work Eloquent was named the ML Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

This season Eloquent has crafted a 13-5 mark with a 3.76 ERA in 153.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .277 against him and he has 106 strikeouts.

Goodneighbor Closer Best Rookie: Bryan Punchline is an old man by baseball standards. In fact, after so many years of being overlooked, the 31-year-old rookie for Goodneighbor is a bit surprised himself that he's living the good life right now. In August Punchline reeled off a 0-0 record in 0 starts as he claimed the Minutemen League Rookie of the Month Award.

He posted an ERA of 1.86 with 14 strikeouts in 9.2 innings and held opponents to a .125 average.

Punchline has collected 6 saves for the year with 14 strikeouts and 3 walks in 11 innings while registering a 2.45 ERA and a 0-0 won-lost record.

Railroad League

Quickwalker Crowned Batter of the Month in August: Deer Quickwalker may be much younger than other hitters in the Railroad League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in August to win the Batter of the Month award.

The 19-year-old Vault 81 right fielder hit .476 with 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored.

A look at his season totals shows Quickwalker with 15 home runs, .424 BA, .484 OBP, 44 RBIs and 49 runs scored.

RL's #1 Starter is Jerry: The hottest hurler in the Railroad League last month was Gerald Jerry of the Oberland T-51s. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the RL Pitcher of the Month.

In August, Jerry starred with an impressive 3-0 record. In 3 starts he gave up 15 base hits and struck out 21 in 26 innings with a 1.73 ERA.

So far this season Jerry has 11 wins and 3 losses and a 3.27 ERA.

Rookie Cops Railroad League Award: He might be a rookie, but he is a player. Kyle Clevinger of Shaw HS certainly showed that this month with an outstanding 1-0 won-lost record and impressive 3.75 ERA. For that kind of performance Clevinger was named the Railroad League Rookie of the Month.

In August he started 3 games, tossed 24 innings, gave up 24 base hits, struck out 20 and walked 3. Opposing batters combined for a .250 average against him.

In 6 starts this season Clevinger has notched a 3-1 record and a 3.56 ERA.
