19 September 2297 - Oberland GM Retires
"I helped build a winner," Oberland GM Tyler Hinson said. "Now it's time to sit back and watch how they develop."
Hinson retired from the Oberland T-51s franchise just three days after his team won the CBO Sole Survivor Series. Hinson stated that he wanted to stay in Oberland and would attend every home game while he enjoyed his twilight years.
The T-51s will need to seek a GM to maintain a team that looks to be in good shape in the near future. Team owner August Oberland stated that he was in no hurry to seek a replacement.
"We'll find the right person when we're ready," Oberland said. "Right now, we're more interested in our title and parade next weekend."
19 September 2297 - Starlight Hires Replacements
The Starlight Lady Killers have begun to build their 2298 staff just one day after firing everyone in the organization. Hired today were team doctor Chase Mash and hitting coach Ryan Johnson.
Johnson is considered a run manufacturer. He believes in using fast players to steal and take extra bases on base hits. He thinks being thrown out when being aggressive is a better approach than being stranded.
"Score, score, score," Johnson said. "I teach players to put a bat on the ball and then run until they get tackled or tagged."
19 September 2297 - Tick Raid Finds Job
Just one day after being fired from Starlight, Tick Raid was quickly scooped up by Diamond City to become their bench coach to replace retired Mike Birtwell.
Raid is probably a victim of the Lady Killers' Irish Cait's wrath after Starlight folded in the second half of the season. League officials feel Raid is a good coach and that Swatters' owner Moe Cronin probably followed CBO Commissioner Nate Howard's advice in scooping up Raid.
According to Diamond City GM Tommy Doddy who is close to Cronin, "We know that Tick is a good coach. He's used to coaching in a stadium similar to ours, and we hope his experience can help our team get better."
20 September 2297 - Red Rockets Choose Doctor
The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets have signed talented Dr. Chris Pittman to join the team staff. Pittman has served as one of the top injury surgeons at Milton General Hospital. He has agreed to join the team and open an injury treatment clinic in Jamaica Plain.
Pittman does not have as much experience with aerobics, which may affect the team's pitching staff with the expanded schedule in 2298. That was one concern the team expressed with hiring him, but they feel he can work miracles when it comes to on-field and off-field injuries.
"We'll try to find someone to help with getting our team in good shape and recover," GM Jason Walenga said. "We do know that if any player gets hurt on the field or attacked by a stingwing or something that Dr. Pittman is one of the best. That gives us confidence in the hire."
21 September 2297 - Vault 81 Finds Its Hitting Coach
The Vault 81 Dwellers hired Murder Downey to take over from fired hitting coach Menace Merwife. Downey was a head coach for the Concord-Lexington Minuteboys of the Boston Youth Travel League.
22 September 2297 - County Crossing Makes Moves
The County Crossing Bloodbugs decided to move on from GM Mike Pieface, expressing a need to sign better players at all positions.
In addition, the Bloodbugs decided to part ways with newly-hired bench coach Jason Personhood, citing an "incident." Multiple anonymous sources have indicated that incident has something to do with team owner Doc Weather's 20-year-old daughter seen leaving Personhood's room last night.
Weathers did not make a statement. From his office at the former National Guard Training Yard, they released a simple message: "We are moving on from GM Pieface and BC Personhood. We will seek a GM better at signing players for all positions throughout the franchise. We will also seek a bench coach that fits our team's integrity philosophy."
22 September 2297 - Monitor Signed by Starlight
Dropped by Vault 81 as the manager just four days ago, Starlight has signed Crow Monitor to be their bench coach in 2298.
Monitor was 29-31 as the Dwellers' manager, good enough for 4th place in the Railroad League. However, top hitters on the team was unhappy with his management style and petitioned to have him removed.
Monitor's appraoch to hitting meshes well with newly-hired hitting coach Ryan Johnson. It is yet to be seen who will be hired as manager for the Lady Killers, but it appears that the team is gearing itself to be a small-ball type team.
One interesting aspect is the set up of Valentine Detective Agency Field. With a short left field wall, it seems the team would want more right-handed power hitters and fast players who can pepper balls off the movie screen for doubles. It will be an interesting dynamic since players tend to get thrown out more often in Starlight than some other deeper fields.
