10 October 2297 - Starlight Hires GM, Scout
The Starlight Lady Killers have made two more personnel hires that they hope will help their team reach goals of winning a championship. Hired were GM Chris Gowest and Head Scout Mike McCluskey.
Gowest appears to favor the youth movement with a spattering of veterans. He believes a team needs to be balanced on offense and pitching. He wants guys who get hits over guys who use any method to get on base, thinking hits drive in runs.
McCluskey leaves the CBO headquarters as one of the top BMU scouts. His expertise is in finding young talent, including finding BMU players on other teams and seeking the best talent in the Commonwealth youth leagues. He is also considered having a good eye at recognizing which talent is ready for advancement.
10 October 2297 - Shroud Minor League Catcher Quits
C.I.T. Ruins Refractors catcher Matt Wells has decided to quit baseball, citing unhappiness with the organization's catcher decisions.
Wells was the third catcher in the organization behind 2296 free agent signing Tiger King and 2296 Inaugural Draft 6th-round pick Bixton Moore. King started all 60 games in 2297 despite some thinking that Moore and Wells were more talented.
"It's like the guy knows someone's husband was fed to deathclaws or something," Wells said in the past about King. "All poofy blonde locks and Psycho teeth, but no bite."
Originally a 23rd pick in the 2296 Inaugural Draft, Wells was a backup in 2296 and demoted to the Boston Minor Union in 2297 where he started 45 of the team's 47 games. He finished the season 40 for 172 (.233) with seven doubles, three home runs, 21 runs, and 26 RBI.
