Expansion Draft
We know we are going to lose a few players in this draft. Now, we wait to find out who they will be.
The first pick, by the Florida Marlins is IF Bip Roberts from, nemesis, San Diego
Followed by the Rockies taking OF Moises Alou from St. Louis
With the 16th pick we, surprisingly, lose RF Roberto Kelly to the Florida Marlins.
Soon after, with the 38th pick, more surprisingly, the Rockies take Dave Hansen
Then, less surprisingly, but more disappointingly, the 43rd pick nabs RP Lee Smith for the Rockies.

The Marlins have only Roberto Kelly who used to play for LA.
That didn't go the way we expected. We thought the expansion teams would take players from our upper minors (C Darren Fletcher, IF's Eddie Pye, Mike Benjamin, Rafael Bournigal, OF's Jerry Brooks, JT Bruett, SP Mark Mimbs), instead we lose 3 players expected to contribute this season in LA and now have to be replaced.
That leaves our off-season shopping list looking something like this
