On April 8, 1969, Marty Pattin became the first and only Opening Day starting pitcher for the Seattle Pilots.
Marty’s doing OK for himself in the FL, too. After being taken by the Highlanders in the 4th round (52nd overall) of this year’s Rookie Draft, he has so far gone 10-3 in his 13 starts with an ERA of 2.48, walking 33 and striking out 57 in 116 innings.
