Since posting the commentary on the relative competitive level of Gold vs Diamond, the Huntley Red Raiders have done the following in Gold...
- As noted earlier, turned a #1 seed into a 3-1 Division Series loss.
- Hosted the Wild Card game, won it, and then got swept in the Division Series.
- Hosted the Wild Card game and lost.
- Hosted the Wild Card game and lost.
- Hosted the Wild Card game and lost.
- (This season) Finally won a division title again, and promptly turned the #1 seed and #1 offense in the league into a 2-0 deficit in the Division Series, scoring 1 lone run in each loss. To those keeping track at home, that translates to an
8-game playoff losing streak (and 2-11 overall when factoring in the original 3-1 Division Series loss).
On the bright (?) side, we did finally break that losing streak and avoid the sweep by winning game 3, but only because the Red Raiders managed to string together a 2-run 9th-inning comeback. Not optimistic about game 4.
So, to whichever OOTP deity I offended with my competitive level post many weeks back, I throw myself on your mercy. I have learned! I am humbled!
EDIT: And the Red Raiders promptly lost game 4 and are out of the playoffs again. So that's 3-12 in the playoffs since the infamous post. Contemplating changing my team name to the Huntley Minnesota Twins...
