16 April 2298 - Masterson Helps Nordhagen Beach Cruise to 10-3 Win
Nordhagen Beach second baseman Brian Masterson made his presence felt in the 10-3 Party Boys triumph over the Starlight Lady Killers. Masterson went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. The Party Boys raised their record to 6-3.
With Nordhagen Beach leading 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Masterson hit a circle change from Jonathan Newman for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Party Boys ahead, 6-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Masterson told the Nordhagen Beach News.
CBO RBI leader Michael Fogcrawler also contributed to the win. Fogcrawler was 4 for 5 with a home run, two runs, and three RBI. He now has 18 RBI on the season, leading Dimond City's Wayne Lacy by one in the RBI race.
16 April 2298 - Swatters Top Cats, 5-0, Behind Mannson
Diamond City Swatters starter X10-44 Mannson turned in a top-notch performance against the Atom Cats at Coolest Field in Town. The result was a win for the Swatters, 5-0. Diamond City goes to 6-3.
Mannson ran roughshod over the Atom lineup. The left-hander allowed just 2 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 8. With the victory, he goes to 2-0 on the season.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Mannson.
RF Wayne Lacy drove in three for the Swatters, putting him one behind the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys' Michael Fogcrawler for best in the CBO for RBI.
16 April 2298 - Assaultrons Win 8th Straight
The Easy Town Assaultrons picked up a win at Easy Town Field, knocking off the Lexington Synths, 3-2. Starting pitcher Angel Waterdrink was a big reason why. Waterdrink, now 2-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Lexington falls to 2-7.
Had Sean Samuels not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Samuels hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Assaultrons.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Easy Town manager Graham Route said.
16 April 2298 - Mass Goes Distance in 7-1 Win
The Slog rode a fine outing from starter Edwin Mass to victory over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud at Tarberry Field Forever. The final score was 7-1. The loss makes Fort Hagen 6-3.
Mass allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 9 innings for the Ghouls. He walked 0 and struck out 3.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Mass. "Successful pitchers do it."
