It doesn't matter whether one saw it coming beforehand or didn't. The card supply isn't there.
My Mets had piled up 126k points. I think the Diamond+ mission is 6 of 15 or something. You need 6 in any case. I had 2. There were only three other cards on the market to begin with, and it was the exact same thing three weeks ago, six weeks ago, and ten weeks ago. There are IRON cards that are not on the market. Not even for 500 PP. Not at all.
The card supply is a fundamental issue with these stacked missions (and the fact that you need ALL cards for many missions). It was already bad in 20, but the missions were layered chronologically so you often didn't need a whole lot of diamonds. In 21, you very much do need a whole lot of diamonds. When was the last time someone opened a pack and found exactly the historical diamond he was looking for?
At this point I would welcome the FIFA model (the horror). You can only ever have one copy of a card. Multiples only on the auction house or in an expired auctions queue (but where they DO count against your allowed total auctions), and if you pack multiples, they either go straight to the auction house, the bin, or you hold them in a cache, but as long as there is a card in the cache you can't open any more packs.
FORCE cards onto the market. Because 21 missions, as they are, are completely broken.
