Walkers news: April 25 -- Evansville 10, St. Louis 3
Record: 12-11, 2nd (Tied/w. Springfield), 2 GB Quad City
Evansville pounded St. Louis starting pitcher for eight runs in a little over four innings, as the Bosses went on to rout the River Walkers 10-3 at Busch Stadium (1997).
Pounded for eight runs in 2.1 innings in his previous start, Benton wasn't any better against the Bosses.
Andrew Allison hit a three-run homer and the next batter, Matt Wallner, smacked a solo shot off him to highlight a five-run top of the third for Evansville.
An inning later, pitcher Nick Bitsko cranked another three-run homer to make it 8-0 and send Benton to the shower.
By the time the Walkers even scored, it was 10-0.
Cris Rosario hit his first homer of the season, a solo blast, off Bitsko to get St. Louis on the board in the bottom of the sixth.
Two batters later, Jose Segura also went deep.
Bitsko (1-1) allowed two runs on five hits in 5.1 innings. He struck out seven and walked three.
Russell Berg (1.0 IP), Danny Cortegaa (1.2) and Wyatt Beddow (1.0) combined to close out the lopsided win for the Bosses.
