I have a 12 team one subleague league with no divisions. 154 game schedule. Each team faces the other 14 times.

What I've been bouncing around in my head is a setup in which the top 2 teams face off in a best of 7 league championship series each year, unless the top team finishes the season up by 5 games or more. If that were to occur the top team would simply be crowned league champion out right. Just wondering if the post season can be cancelled, or will doing so cause problems. Thanks.
