Down 2-0, St. Louis took charge with a four run top of the third inning, and the River Walkers went on to defeat Cedar Rapids 5-3 at Connie Mack Stadium (1960).
Grapplers starting pitcher Pablo Lopez opened the inning by getting St. Louis starting pitcher Trey Benton to ground out.
But after that, the flood gates opened.
Alek Thomas, Thairo Estrada and Jose Ramirez all singled to load the bases.
Jose Segura kept the string of base runners going, by drawing the second walk of the inning.
Cris Rosario then cleared the bags with a three-run double.
Rosario struck again when he led off the sixth with a homer off Brenan Hanifee to make it 5-2.
Cedar Rapids' Ben Breazeale led off the sixth with a double off Benton, and later scored to make it 5-3.
Benton surrendered a two-run homer to Josiah Miller in the first inning, but settled down with scoreless innings after that.
Overall, Benton (3-5) allowed three runs on four hits over six innings.
Cory Tiller, Danny Amador and Ernesto Barbosa all followed with a scoreless inning each.
Barbosa collected his eighth save.
