9 May 2298 - Taffington's Stubbs Calls It Quits
Frustrated by his role on the team, Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters relief pitcher Robert Stubs has retired effective immediately.
Stubbs originally signed with the Warwick Mirelurks organization after being undrafted in the 2296 Inaugural Draft. He later moved to several teams before settling with the Easy Town Assaultrons organization. There he was a reliever for the Spy Hunters in 2297 and 2298.
This season, he appeared in four games, allowing one earned run on six hits in 7.2 innings for a 1.17 ERA. In his career with Taffington Boathouse, he allowed one earned run on 12 hits with 14 walks and 18 strikeouts in 19.2 innings for a 0.46 ERA. He recorded one win.
9 May 2298 - NCA Awards Best Batter Prize to Rogers
At the age of 26, Ginger Rogers might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Finch Farm center fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .471 batting average. For his efforts Rogers collected the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 8 hits in 17 at-bats, 5 home runs and 9 RBIs last week in 5 games.
Rogers is batting .281 this year with 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 27 hits in 96 at-bats.
9 May 2298 - Costantino Selected Player of the Week
One of the league's most exciting young players, Stuart Costantino of the Quincy Gunners earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.
For the week the 19-year-old catcher had a lofty .632 average (12-for-19), collecting 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
This season Costantino is swinging the bat at a .435 pace. He has hit 6 home runs and scored 28 times, while driving in 24. His on-base percentage is .514 and he has played in 24 games.
