Walkers news: July 5 -- Cleveland 2, St. Louis 1, 11 innings
Record: 45-43, 4th, 4 GB Quad City
Mac Horvath connected on a two-out RBI single in the top of the 11th inning to help lift Cleveland to a 2-1 win over St. Louis at Busch Stadium (1997).
River Walkers reliever David Amador retired the first two Juke Box Heroes batters in the top of the 11th, but Will Holland got to him for a double.
Horvath followed with a single which got past second baseman Peter Ahn, and Holland crossed the plate with what was the winning run.
A homer from Joe Silverstein in the top of the fourth inning off St. Louis starter Ricky Cisneros gave Cleveland a 1-0 lead.
The Walkers didn't tie it until the seventh, when Jean Carmona homered off Cleveland reliever Bob Granillo.
Heroes starting pitcher Mason Montgomery allowed just two hits over five innings. He struck out seven and walked one.
Five relievers followed Montgomery to the mound -- Yuki Matsui (1.0 IP), Granillo (1.0), Juan Munoz (1.0), Adam Wenger (2.0) and German Baca (1.0) -- with Wenger (5-2) earning the win.
Baca collected his first save.
