26 May 2298 - BMU Day: Garbageman Extends Hit Streak to 25 Games
Steve Garbageman has been ripping hits every day for a while now, and nobody seems able to stop him. The Outpost Zimonja left fielder picked up 3 more today against the Breakheart Banks Behemoths and now has a 25-game hitting streak. The Strongbacks won the game 6-3.
"Definitely somebody's going to stop me at some point," he said later, chuckling. "I'll enjoy it for the time being."
Steve Garbageman walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
So far this season Garbageman has gotten 52 hits in 121 at-bats for a .430 batting average with 3 home runs. His stats include 27 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has played in 28 games.
26 May 2298 - Kilgore Has 20-Game Hitting Streak
The Somerville Place Sentry Bots stopped the Fiddler's Green T-60s today 10-9 and Kurt Kilgore collected a base hit yet again. The Somerville Place center fielder finished with 2 hits to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20.
"I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Kilgore told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games."
Kurt Kilgore grounded out in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit an RBI triple in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run single in the 7th.
Kilgore is presently hitting at a .379 pace with 3 home runs and 34 RBIs. He has played in 28 games and scored 20 times.
26 May 2298 - Raybathers Come Up Short at Bunker Hill, 3-2
The Bunker Hill Gun Fu had to overcome a fine effort from Mystic Pines pitcher Mark Gearhead to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Wicked Shipping Field. Gearhead went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was Ruther Fraud, his 6th. With the victory, the Gun Fu upped their record to 15-13.
In the bottom of the third, Mike Carrasco hit a 2-run triple. The 1st triple of the season for the Bunker Hill right fielder put the Gun Fu on top, 3-1.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Mystic Pines skipper Justin Chops, "and it cost us."
26 May 2298 - Big Leaguers, Uglyhair Blast Aquaboys, 10-2
The Natick Banks Big Leaguers beat the Eastlake Aquaboys, 10-2, at Poseidon Park. Jim Uglyhair, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice. Picking up the win was Jason Haynes. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 3. Ron Jenkins, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
With Natick Banks leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Uglyhair hit a knuckle curve from Robbie League for a grand slam home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Big Leaguers ahead, 5-0.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Uglyhair.
Natick Banks raised its record to 19-9 with the win.
26 May 2298 - Flamers Top Nerd Ragers in Extras, 5-2
Riding the 4-hit performance of the 20-year old right fielder Bat Savelli, the Corvega Flamers stopped the College Square Nerd Ragers, 5-2. Reliever Mike Koenig picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Wobbly Warren took the loss. Rafe Sauce got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Savelli had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a first pitch curveball from Wobbly Warren, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Flamers a 5-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Savelli.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Savelli.
The win puts Corvega at 16-12 this season.
