2298 Week 8 - The Week in Review

Analysis

Big risers and big fallers mark the 8th week of the season. First of all, I am analyzing the league but not responsible for putting out the Power Rankings. So, let me point out that the Vault 81 Dwellers are 22nd out of 24 teams. However (!), the Dwellers just dropped their 14th straight game yesterday, a second-straight weekend sweep at the hands of the Oberland T-51s. With 14 straight losses, regardless of whom they came against, Vault 81 is team 24 . . . at best . . . at this point in the season. Some BMU teams may currently be better that the Dwellers; that is how terrible they have been. Their last win came exactly 20 days ago when they needed 12 innings to defeat the University Point Deathclaws in a midweek game.

In comparison to a week ago, let's look at the teams who made the biggest rise through the Power Rankings this week and which teams had the biggest plunge down the rankings.

Risers

+7 - Starlight Lady Killers (LW - 16, TW - 8) - The Lady Killers won 4 of 5, including four straight. With a weekend sweep of Concord, the Killers are now just one game back of reeling Fort Hagen in the Institute League. Starlight has been an up and down team, but they used Week 8 to change their status within the tightest league in the CBO

+5 - Egret Ninjas (LW 18, TW - 13) - No team seems to want the Railroad League wildcard spot, but the Ninjas currently hold that place thanks to a 3-2 week. In all fairness, two of those three losses came against 24th-ranked Atom, while they lost their series to 23rd-ranked Roxbury. The Cats and Knuckle Punchers swapped spots in the Power Rankings this week. For Egret, we have no idea why they jumped up five spots, but they did.

+4 - Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (LW - 13, TW - 9) - The Red Rockets are fourth in the Minutemen League, but they made a nice jump to 9th in the Power Rankings from last week's 13th. Jamaica Plain got the nice boost thanks to a 4-1 week, with a two-game sweep of the Dwellers and wining two of three over Atom.

+4 - FHE Yao Guai (LW - 21, TW - 17) - The Yao Guai dropped their series finale to Diamond City yesterday, breaking their six-game winning streak. On the week, FHE was 4-1, including an impressive two-game sweep at Quincy.

Fallers

-11 - Concord Radstags (LW - 10, TW - 21) - The Radstags flipped their four-game winning streak by ending this week with a four-game losing streak, including getting swept by the Lady Killer this weekend. With midweek games against Nordhagen Beach in three of the next four weeks, they may stay around the 20s for the next few weeks.

-6 - Diamond City Swatters (LW - 9, TW - 15) - The Swatters avoided a winless week by winning Game Three against FHE. This week saw DC drop two straight home series to University Point and the Yao Guai. Those wasteland creatures are tough to kill with swatters!

-6 - Sunshine Tidings Chemists (LW - 12, TW - 18) - Their week was not as bad as the teams above, but a 2-3 week dropped the Chemists from a top half perch. Sunshine Tidings split with Finch Farm and then lost their weekend series two games to one at Lexington. They get two home series this week, but one will be a home set against first-place Abernathy.
