7 June 2298 - Concord-Diamond City Trade: Two Pitchers for Crawler

According to BNN there were mixed emotions by the players involved in the trade between the Concord Radstags and the Diamond City Swatters. As part of the deal, the Radstags swapped 34-year-old LHP Burt Oldshoe and 18-year-old minor league RHP Noah Williams to the Swatters getting 23-year-old CF Logan Crawler in return. The players indicated it was good to get a fresh new start in another city, but it was difficult to leave your friends on the old team.

Currently, Crawler has 3 home runs and a .253 batting average. This season marked his first in three years as a full-time starter for Diamond City. Recently called up Witcher Craft, the 1st round pick of the Swatters in the 2296 Rookie Draft, is expected to take his place as the full-time starter. Crawler may start off with College Square since he would be a back up in Concord to Ricky Ticky Laughy and would probably be behind Cram Garge on the bench.

Oldshoe has made 17 appearances in 2298 for the Radstags, going 2-0 with a 4.81 ERA.

Williams has appeared in eight games, starting six, for College Square. He has a 4-1 record with a save and a 1.22 ERA.

7 June 2298 - McCormac Confesses, Sentenced to Jail and Fined

College Square Nerd Ragers pitcher Tim McCormac confessed yesterday to leading a scheme to make money off his Mc, Inc. company of herbs and spices. He told the Brotherhood of Steel detectives that he had been behind the decision to add dangerous ingredients that made people sick. All have now recovered.

Because of his confession, McCormac will now serve a six-month sentence in a Brotherhood prison. He is also ordered to return payments to all who bought his products and pay restitution to those who became ill. It is expected that it will take some time to pay that money back since McCormac makes the minimum number of caps in the BMU as an undrafted free agent rookie.

The Brotherhood has prisoner work programs where they can earn caps to help pay off fines, so we are sure McCormac will enjoy sweaty, labor-intense days during his break from the BMU.

The Nerd Ragers have placed McCormac on the reserve/injury list for the remainder of the 2298 season.

7 June 2298 - Grognak Helps Natick Banks Outscore Trinity Plaza in 35-run Affair

The Natick Banks-Trinity Plaza matchup turned into a slugfest.

Natick Banks second baseman Mike Grognak had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Trinity Plaza Snipers, 18-17. Natick Banks now has a record of 22-10 with the win.

Natick Banks relied on the bat of Oren Gep to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Big Leaguers ahead, 18-17. For the game, Gep had 1 double and 2 home runs in 6 at-bats.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Gep.

Special Notes: Mike Grognak ties the MA regular season game record for runs with 4. Mike Grognak ties the MA regular season game record for doubles with 3. Oren Gep ties the MA regular season game record for RBI with 7.

7 June 2298 - Lifegivers Win at Breakheart Banks, 8-2

Union Hope Lifegivers starter Greg Mardis was on his game, helping his team beat the Breakheart Banks Behemoths, 8-2. Union Hope has 4 straight wins, Breakheart Banks 7 straight losses. The loss was extra disappointing for the Behemoths in their featured series of the season.

Union Hope relied on the hitting of Jason Templeman to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Lifegivers on top, 5-2. For the game, Templeman had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Union Hope manager Greg Tannenbaum.

7 June 2298 - Siltbean on Fire, 5-for-6 Against Charles View

Jeff Siltbean was at the head of a Fiddler's Green hit parade today at The Trailer Yard. The left fielder went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the T-60s to a 15-10 victory over the Charles View Cannibals.

"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Siltbean told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."

Cannibals skipper Jeff Butt said later that the club gave up "too much plate."

"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

Jeff Siltbean hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

This year Siltbean is hitting .352 with 4 home runs.

7 June 2298 - 5-Hit Blitz by Tattoo, Carrotflower, Still Lose

Dave Tattoo found his groove in today's game versus the Starlight Lady Killers and wrote his name in the league record book. His 5-for-8 performance at the plate unfortunately wasn't enough for the County Crossing Bloodbugs, as the club lost the game, 3-2, in 17 innings.

The 29-year-old center fielder told the press "it was one of those days where everything clicked."

"I made solid contact, and the ball dropped in," Tattoo said.

Dave Tattoo flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, singled in the 12th, grounded out in the 14th and singled in the 16th.

Tattoo's current batting average stands at .262 and he has chalked up 1 home run and 18 RBIs.

Some days you can't win for losing. Just ask Joel Carrotflower -- he was the King of Swing against the Lady Killers, but his Bloodbugs were beaten 3-2 anyway.

The County Crossing second baseman had 8 chances against the Starlight and delivered 5 hits in a sensational game.

"Unbelievable feeling," he told the press. "It felt great to be hitting like that, but a downer when you look at the scoreboard. 5-for-8 does wonders for your confidence, but it's a shame we couldn't win, too."

Joel Carrotflower flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th, grounded out in the 16th and singled in the 17th.

Thus far this year Carrotflower has hit .342 with 4 home runs and 24 RBIs.

Special Notes: Tom Mastodon sets the NCA regular season extra-inning game record for at bats with 8. Dave Tattoo ties the NCA regular season extra-inning game record for hits with 5. Hubris McBride sets the STAR regular season extra-inning game record for at bats with 8. Joel Carrotflower ties the NCA regular season extra-inning game record for hits with 5.

7 June 2298 - Kiwi Whitewashes Abernathy

It wasn't easy but the The Slog Ghouls made it look that way.

Starter David Kiwi shut out the Abernathy Adamantium despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the The Slog Ghouls cruised to victory, 5-0. Kiwi allowed only 6 hits and rang up 4 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

Kiwi has started 12 times this year, pitched 74.2 innings, fanned 51 batters and walked 13. His current record is 4 wins and 7 losses with a 3.86 ERA.

7 June 2298 - Oberland Befuddled by Rope in 7-0 Whitewash

19-year-old Jamaica Plain Red Rockets pitcher Will Rope had a strong outing against the Oberland T-51s at Red Rockets Stadium today, keeping them off the scoreboard the whole game. He struck out 8 in the 7-0 win and walked 0 while surrendering 7 hits. It was the second-straight shutout loss by the CBO's best team.

"Hopefully there will be plenty more of these in the future for us," he said.

In 12 starts this season Rope has rung up a 7-0 record and a 2.09 ERA.

7 June 2298 - Boohoo Goes Deep Twice, Helps Ninjas Top Deathclaws, 7-5

Egret and University Point duked it out and the Ninjas came out victorious.

The Egret Ninjas grabbed a win, 7-5, over the University Point Deathclaws at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina. Egret first baseman Kyle Boohoo hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Andy Helium recorded the save for Egret, his 9th of the season.

Boohoo contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Egret in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Boohoo took a fastball from Gary Stallworth and stroked the home run to right. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Ninjas to leap in front, 2-1.

In postgame comments, Boohoo told the Egret Herald: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"

University Point has now lost 4 consecutive games.

7 June 2298 - Silver Shroud Top Party Boys, 6-2

Fort Hagen Silver Shroud starter Joey Dimes pitched a strong game against the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys at Hubris Comics Park, leading the Silver Shroud to victory, 6-2. Dimes went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-7. The win elevated the Silver Shroud to 24-22.

Mark Miller, who is tied for 10th in the NCA in triples with 3, helped out the Fort Hagen cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the second baseman went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

Miller attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
