20 June 2298 - Hitting Streak Still Alive for Burgess
Howie Burgess collected 1 hit in today's game and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. His club, the C.I.T. Ruins Refractors, beat the Breakheart Banks Behemoths 6-4.
"Right now, when they throw me the ball, it looks the size of a softball," Burgess quipped to a BNN reporter after the game. "I'm excited about how things are clicking."
Howie Burgess grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, walked in the 10th and walked in the 11th.
So far this season Burgess is hitting .306 with 2 home runs.
20 June 2298 - Natick Banks Roughed Up By Commandos
Led by Hunter Wilde, the Haymarket Mall Commandos defeated the Natick Banks Big Leaguers, 8-0. Wilde went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 6 for the Commandos. The victory gives Haymarket Mall a record of 27-12.
In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Wilde hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.
Wilde said his team "played with determination."
Aldo Sanch (9-1) earned the victory by allowing no runs on three hits with four walks and six strikeouts in 8.0 innings. Batface Landry pitched a scoreless ninth.
20 June 2298 - Snipers Deal Aquaboys 10-3 Loss
Mike Oldtimer was a major contributor to the 10-3 Trinity Plaza win over Eastlake. The Snipers third baseman threw 8 innings allowing 3 runs. Trinity Plaza now has a record of 24-15 with the win.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Splotch Pollock? The Trinity Plaza catcher had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Snipers on top, 3-0. For the game, Pollock had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Pollock told the Trinity Plaza Times.
