1 July 2298 - CBO: Players of the Month

June's Premier NCA Batter Announced: When Dan Erb stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the North Charles Association Batter of the Month award.

The young Concord left fielder posted a .402 batting average with 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 22 runs. Erb also worked pitchers for 9 walks to post a .484 on-base percentage.

This year Erb has collected a .354 batting average to date with 91 hits in 257 at-bats, 48 RBIs, 12 home runs and scored 47 times. He has played in 62 games.

Diamond City's Lacy Acclaimed Best SCA Hitter: It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 19 Wayne Lacy has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Diamond City Swatters star can enjoy the numbers he put up in June, which have garnered him the nod as the South Charles Association Batter of the Month.

His breakout month featured a .427 average with 12 home runs, 22 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

This season Lacy has hit 23 home runs and posted a .370 batting average.

June's Top Starter is Pageturner: The #1 pitcher this past month in the North Charles Association was Matt Pageturner of the Finch Farm Four Leafs. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing June with a superb 5-0 record and a 2.59 ERA.

The Four Leafs star made 5 starts and surrendered 36 hits in 41.2 innings. He struck out 36 and walked 12.

This year Pageturner has recorded a 10-6 mark. In 16 starts he has fanned 81 batters in 120.2 innings with a 4.18 ERA.

FHE Starter Selected Best Pitcher: In June, Danny Owens tore through the South Charles Association like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 20 years old.

The young FHE starter posted a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 3.12 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 40.1 innings he collected 30 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .224 average.

So far this season, Owens has logged a 5-10 record with a 5.86 ERA. He has started 16 games, hurled 93.2 innings and registered 63 strikeouts and 46 walks.

1 July 2298 - Vault 81 Dwellers Ship Feddersen to Diamond City

Mike McGuire, general manager of the Vault 81 Dwellers, has signed off on a trade for Diamond City's 20-year-old minor league C Dave Winebrenner and 19-year-old minor league RHP Danny Haines. To complete the deal, the Dwellers will send 31-year-old RHP Uncle Abe Feddersen to the Swatters.

Feddersen has taken the mound for 11 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 1-0 record with a 5.40 ERA. The reliever has limited opposing batters to a .250 batting average.

1 July 2298 - Big Day for Toeclaw as Witch Hats Down Bloodbugs, 7-1

Antonio Toeclaw made an impact in the 7-1 Salem win over County Crossing. Toeclaw was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Salem now sits in 5th place in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League at 28-35.

With Salem leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Toeclaw hit a changeup from Zach DiGrande for a 3-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Witch Hats ahead, 4-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Salem manager Proper Lighthouse.

1 July 2298 - Fusion, Swatters Get 5-1 Win

Diamond City pitcher Tim Fusion did his part in helping his team beat the Roxbury Knuckle Punchers, 5-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Diamond City goes to 31-32, Roxbury to 17-46.

Fusion scattered 3 hits over 8 innings for the Swatters. With the win, Fusion moves to 8-1 on the year with 92 strikeouts.

Fusion attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."

1 July 2298 - Cats Deal Deathclaws 6-1 Defeat

The University Point Deathclaws went down to defeat to Matt "Ace in the Hole" Hope and his Atom teammates. The final score was 6-1 in favor of the Cats. The Cats go to 25-38 with the win.

Atom needed the clutch hitting of Will Ashfire to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cats on top, 6-0. For the game, Ashfire had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Matt "Ace in the Hole" did a tremendous job," said Atom manager Ben Stoudt.

1 July 2298 - Silver Shroud Edge Chemists, 2-1

Fort Hagen starter All Day Acosta pitched well against the Sunshine Tidings Chemists at Hubris Comics Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. The win puts Fort Hagen at 33-30 this season.

Acosta contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single to push the 2-1 adavantage. It was one at-bat among others that helped Fort Hagen get the win.

Seth Dungan led the Shroud offense, going 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Cozy Burmaster.

1 July 2298 - Party Boys Drop Assaultrons, 4-0, in BL Battle

The radstorm did not keep Nordhagen Beach and Easy Town from finishing their game.

Nordhagen Beach Party Boys starter Julian Shed pitched a strong game against the Easy Town Assaultrons at Easy Town Field, leading the Party Boys to victory, 4-0. The victory gives Nordhagen Beach a record of 38-25.

Shed (6-7) did not allow a run on one hit with three walks and four strikeouts in 6.2 innings before the radstom delayed the game 52 minutes and forced Shed out. Jason Vaultick and Night Demon Archaki finished out the game once it resumed to preserve the shutout victory.

Mike Swift, the 20-year old catcher, had a direct impact on the outcome. Swift contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Nordhagen Beach up, 1-0. The Boys ended up scoring a total of three runs in the inning to take a 3-0 lead.

Ryan Combs led all hitters, going 3 for 5 with an RBI. Taboo Richardson had the game's only extra-base hit, a 4th inning RBI double.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Nordhagen Beach manager Craig Robinson. "It's usually not just one thing."
