3 July 2298 - Mart Shows Off, Hits for Cycle
In an outing that will go down in the annals of baseball history, Nordhagen Beach first baseman Dustin Mart hit for the cycle today as the Party Boys marched to victory over the Easy Town Assaultrons, 15-3.
Mart collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 5 RBI and 3 runs scored to help Nordhagen Beach take the Easy Town Field contest.
"It was the last thing on my mind, really," Mart said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway."
Dustin Mart struck out in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, walked in a run in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Chris Salazar in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
Mart is batting .277 this season in 65 games with 23 home runs, 54 RBIs and 58 runs scored. He has 73 hits in 264 at-bats. He leads the NCA in home runs.
Michael Fogcrawler also had a great game in the offensive explosion He finished 4 for 6 with a triple, a home run (to keep pace with Mart), two runs, and four RBI.
In the series, Nordhagen Beach's sweep of the Assaultrons now gives the Party Boys a six-game advantage. The Party Boys answered their six-game losing streak by going on a six-game winning streak. The Slog has also been hot, winning five straight to be four games back of Nordhagen Beach in the Brotherhood League.
