5 July 2298 - A View from the BMU Postponed

We were originally scheduled to visit C.I.T. Ruins this week but that trip will be postponed to the final week of the BMU season because of the CBO All-Star Game. We will be back next week with a visit to Trinity Plaza in Downtown Boston.

5 July 2298 - Cats' Wiliams Required for BOS Mission

Atom Cats closer Freedom Williams will have to take an emergency leave of absence from the team after his services are needed for a covert Brotherhood of Steel mission.

While some CBO players are required to serve a one-year term, Williams is officially retired from active service but may be called on for missions from time to time. The Cats organization agreed to those terms when they drafted Williams in the 8th round of the 2296 Inaugural Draft.

Williams' duty time is expected to take about one month, so he should return in August. On the season, he is 1-1 with 11 saves and a 2.31 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched and 23 appearances.

5 July 2298 - Trade Processed: Goodneighbor-Fort Hagen

The Goodneighbor Hancocks traded 20-year-old minor league left fielder Josh Breggs to the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud yesterday, getting 35-year-old minor league starting pitcher Oscar Chekhemani in return.

In 45 games started with Trinity Plaza, Breggs is 61 for 174 (.351) with 11 doubles, six home runs, 43 runs, and 28 RBI.

Chekhamani started 11 games and appeared as a reliever once for C.I.T. Ruins. He was 5-0 with a 1.91 ERA and was considered a contender for the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Year Award before the trade.

Chekhamani spent his first two years in the CBO as a Silver Shroud starter before being demoted. In 40 starts in the CBO, he was 8-16 with a 8.31 ERA. He is expected to be promoted to the Goodneighbor roster following the All-Star break.

5 July 2298 - FHE Yao Guai Ship Paula to Goodneighbor

Trade winds have been blowing through FHE. This time, a deal has materialized between the Yao Guai and Goodneighbor Hancocks. According to sources inside the organization, FHE will ship 32-year-old RHP Bus Paula and 19-year-old minor league 3B Danny Vertibird to Goodneighbor for 21-year-old minor league RHP Pray Tell, 19-year-old minor league 3B Americ Boston, 24-year-old minor league 3B Mike Oldtimer and 19-year-old minor league SS Jayden Neo.

Paula has taken the mound for 21 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 3-2 record with a 2.45 ERA. The reliever has limited opposing batters to a .256 batting average.

This marks the second straight day that the Hancocks have made a trade for a pitcher. The Hancocks only trail Oberland for runs allowed in the South Charles Association. Though they are 2nd in Starters ERA (3.89), Goodneighbor is 8th in Bullpen ERA (4.87). They are hoping Paula will help that bullpen number improve.

5 July 2298 - BMU: Tattooman Leads T-60s to Win

The Fiddler's Green T-60s beat the Trinity Plaza Snipers, 9-7, at Memory Den Field. Fiddler's Green third baseman Johnny Tattooman had an outstanding performance. He went 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Devon Museum got the save, the 4th for him this season. Trinity Plaza, at 24-22, has lost 7 straight.

Tattooman had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Wally Hall, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the T-60s a 9-7 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Tattooman.

"There's a lot of fight left in this team," said Tattooman.

5 July 2298 - BMU: Gun Fu Walk It Off for 21st Win of Season

The Bunker Hill Gun Fu defeated the Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks, 7-6. Doing his part was third baseman Bubbles Fleeker, who went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The Gun Fu now have a record of 21-25.

Shotgun McElveen was the walk-off hero for Bunker Hill. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Gun Fu third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"This place was rockin'," said McElveen.

5 July 2298 - BMU: Gipper, Sentry Bots Get 4-0 Win

Ronnie Gipper was locked and loaded, helping the Somerville Place Sentry Bots beat the Haymarket Mall Commandos, 4-0. Somerville Place raised its record to 23-23 with the win.

Gipper ran roughshod over the Haymarket Mall lineup. The left-hander allowed just 3 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 8. With the victory, he goes to 9-1 on the season.

Gipper told a Somerville Place News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
