OCTOBER 8th

Game #2 Dodgers at Cubs

Today's starting pitchers are Tim Belcher (R) (15-8, 149 ERA+, 79 FIP-) and Alex Fernandez (R) (15-10, 128 ERA+, 86 FIP-)

Today's lineup.
No doubt about LF-Rickey, CF White, SS-Valentin nor 3B Gaetti.
Piazza (C or 1B) and Snyder (1B or RF) will also be in the linup though we're not sure where.
Second base will be manned by either Fletcher or Offerman
The last spot will be either Fletcher at C, Hollins at 1B or Bean or Huff in RF

We rate Fernandez as 5/5/6 vs both lefties and righties. He had a 3.0/5.6 ratio of BB/9 and K/9 vs lefties and 1.7/7.4 vs righties.

Offerman is a switch hitter who gets a significant amount of his offensive value from drawing walks. We go with Fletcher's defense and ability to drive the ball.

Dave Hollins struggled this year, and the damage he did do was mostly against left-handed pitchers (.814 OPS vs .589 against L)

Mike Huff's strength vs right-handed pitchers is drawing walks. This may not be a great matchup for him

We rate Bill Bean and Darren Fletcher as equal batters vs right-handed pitchers. Bean is a plus defensive outfielder while Fletcher is a below average defensive catcher. Bean in RF would also improve our defense at first (Snyder over Piazza) and catcher (Piazza over Fletcher). Bean it is.

LF Rickey
C Piazza
SS Valentin
1B Snyder
CF White (Better vs R than L)
RF Bean
3B Gaetti
P Belcher
2B Fletcher
