AL Game #1 – Toronto at Kansas City
Jose Rijo and Brett Saberhagen both pitched into the 9th inning. Rijo did so without giving up a run, Jesse Orosco and Xavier Hernandez helped to finish off the shutout. Saberhagen goes all the way but gives up 3 runs in the third inning with 2 of the runs coming on Fred McGriff's homerun.
